What is a Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination is a brow styling treatment that restructures and sets the natural brow hairs into a desired shape, creating a fuller, more lifted and perfectly groomed appearance. Using specially formulated lifting and setting solutions, the brow hairs are softened, repositioned and fixed into place, allowing them to be brushed into a sleek, fluffy or more defined style depending on your preference.

Brow Lamination is ideal for clients with unruly, downward-growing, uneven or sparse brows, as it helps create the illusion of greater fullness while enhancing the natural shape of the eyebrows. Whether you prefer a soft, natural finish or a bold, brushed-up look, the treatment can be tailored to suit your facial features and personal style. Results typically last 6–8 weeks with the correct aftercare, making everyday brow styling quick and effortless.

This comprehensive guide provides everything you need to know about the Brow Lamination treatment, including how the procedure works, aftercare instructions, the healing and maintenance process, frequently asked questions, and beautiful before-and-after results from our clients.

The Procedure

A Brow Lamination treatment typically takes 45 minutes, although it can take up to 60 minutes if brow waxing, shaping and tinting are included. The treatment begins by cleansing the brows before a lifting solution is applied to soften the brow hairs, allowing them to be brushed into the desired position. Once the ideal shape has been created, a setting solution is applied to lock the hairs into place.

Please inform your beautician if you are using AHA/BHA/Retinoids topically, taking Roaccutane, or other medication that can increase skin sensitivity, as you may not be suitable for this treatment.

1.
Cleansing

The brows are thoroughly cleansed to remove makeup, oils and any product residue. This ensures the lifting solutions can penetrate the hairs evenly and achieve the best possible results. We will discuss your wishes for your brows, do you want them more fluffy or straight?

2.
Lifting Solution

The lifting solution is carefully applied to the brows to soften and break down the hair bonds, making the hairs flexible enough to be repositioned into the desired shape. The solution is left to process for the appropriate time based on the client's hair type.

3.
Setting Solution

Once the brows have been brushed into their new position, the setting solution is applied to rebuild the hair bonds and lock the hairs into place. This creates the lifted, fuller appearance that lasts for several weeks.

4.
Tinting & Waxing (Optional)

If desired, the brows can be tinted to enhance colour and definition, followed by waxing or tweezing to tidy stray hairs and perfect the overall shape by brow mapping These finishing touches create a more polished result.

5.
Brow Hydration

A nourishing treatment, such as keratin or a conditioning serum, is applied to replenish moisture and help maintain the health, strength and shine of the brow hairs after the chemical process.

6.
Aftercare

The brows are given a final brush into place and aftercare instructions are explained. Clients should avoid exposing the brows to excessive heat or steam for the first 24 hours to ensure the best longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a brow lamination achieved?

Brow Lamination is achieved using a specialised formulas that restructure and set the natural brow hairs into a fuller, lifted and more defined shape. The brows are first cleansed before a lifting solution is applied to soften the hair structure, allowing the hairs to be carefully brushed into the desired position. A setting solution is then used to lock the hairs into place, creating a long-lasting result. To complete the treatment, the brows can be tinted and shaped with waxing or tweezing for additional definition

How long will the treatment take?

A Brow Lamination treatment typically takes 45 minutes, or up to 60 minutes when combined with brow tinting and waxing. The exact treatment time depends on the thickness and condition of the natural brow hairs, as well as any additional services included.

How long will my brow lamination last?

Results from a Brow Lamination treatment typically last 6-8 weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle, hair type and how well the aftercare instructions are followed. Regular maintenance appointments can be done after the 6-8 weeks has passed, to keep your brows looking their best.

Is it painful?

Brow Lamination is a pain-free, non-invasive treatment. You may feel slight pressure as the brow hairs are brushed into place, but the treatment should not be uncomfortable. Some clients with sensitive skin may experience mild redness or burning around the brows, but this usually subsides within a few hours. If burning increases inform your technician, slight tingling is normal, if you are using topical skincare or taking medication that can increase sensitivity, let your beautician know before the treatment begins.

Are there any side effects?

The treatment is generally very safe when performed by a trained professional. Some clients may experience temporary redness or slight skin sensitivity, particularly if waxing is included or they have sensitive skin. These effects usually subside within a few hours. Following the recommended aftercare or requesting a patch test has been completed before treatment can help minimise the risk of irritation or an allergic reaction (though very rare).

Is a brow lamination suitable for me?

Brow Lamination is suitable for most people who want fuller, more defined and well-groomed brows. It is particularly beneficial for those with unruly, uneven, sparse or downward-growing brow hairs. However, the treatment may not be suitable if you have active skin conditions, cuts, infections or irritation around the brow area, or if you have experienced an allergic reaction to lamination products in the past. A patch test and suitability assessment should always be completed before treatment. Ultimately, whether Brow Lamination is right for you comes down to your personal style and the look you want to achieve.

Lamination, Wax & Shape or SPMU Brows?

Choosing between Brow Lamination, Wax & Shape, or Semi-Permanent Makeup (SPMU) Brows depends on your natural brows, desired result and how long you want the results to last.

Brow Lamination: Ideal if you have enough natural brow hair but want a fuller, fluffier and more lifted appearance. Lamination restructures your existing brow hairs, making them easier to style while creating the illusion of greater density. Results typically last 6-8 weeks.

Wax & Shape: Perfect if you're happy with your natural brows and simply want them tidied and defined. Waxing and shaping removes unwanted hairs to enhance your natural brow shape, while tinting can be added for extra colour and definition. This is the lowest maintenance option and is ideal for regular upkeep.

SPMU Brows: Best for clients with sparse, uneven or overplucked brows who want a long-lasting solution. Techniques such as Nano, Powder or Combi Brows implant pigment into the skin to create the appearance of fuller, perfectly shaped brows that last 1–3 years with periodic colour refreshes.

Ultimately, the right treatment comes down to your personal preference. If you love a fluffy, natural look, Brow Lamination is an excellent choice. If you simply want to enhance your existing brows, Wax & Shape may be all you need. If you're looking for a long-lasting solution with minimal daily effort, SPMU Brows offer the most defined and durable results.
